This shot of a Great Blue Heron perched in a snag in Bubbling Ponds at times shared the tree with an osprey. That was certainly eye-catching! We find the heron, appearing here "solo," in what is an atypical place for it to hang out. Bubbling Ponds is run by Arizona Game and Fish as part of Page Springs Fish Hatchery in Cornville AZ.
I took the shot on an overcast afternoon (October 7, 2022) using a 300mm prime lens plus 2.0 teleconverter mounted on an OM-1 mirrorless camera, ISO 4000 1/2500s f/14
