This photograph was created in one of the "computational photography" features of Olympus cameras, called Live Composite. It involves in-camera compositing of a series of images, each only capturing new sources of light. It is great for fireworks and lightning. Thus, the exposure is long but not overexposed. I used Olympus gear—a 40-150mm lens and the OM-D E-M1 MarkII camera—with ISO 200 1/2s f/11, focal distance 40mm. Fortunately for my safety, the lightning became larger and more distinct as the storm moved away! Oh, and aren't the double diagonal lines great?
I am a nature and wildlife photographer specializing in landscapes such as panoramas, trees in context, and animals in action or interaction! You could call me a "-scape" photographer, doing land-, cloud-, tree, and even snag-scapes, and I love capturing birds on gorgeous trees in gorgeous cloud- and land-scapes. Whether at home in Flagstaff or traveling to other parts of Arizona, southern California, or occasionally further afield (Texas, Missouri, and South Dakota most recently, I am never without my camera. My aim is to capture for viewers my encounters with the natural world that are so important and fulfilling.
