Shooting the sunset from about 9000' above sea level was something I couldn't tear myself away from on October 28, 2022. Thus I was shivering but still prepared to catch a moment like this, as clouds blew across the cinder cones to the west of the San Francisco Peaks (behind me and the camera). I set my OM-1 Olympus camera to Live Composite, a long exposure setting, to capture the blurry movement of the clouds. This involved in-camera compositing of a series of 1 second exposures. My 40-150mm lens was at 150mm, ISO 80 f/22.
I am a nature and wildlife photographer specializing in landscapes such as panoramas, trees in context, and animals in action or interaction! You could call me a "-scape" photographer, doing land-, cloud-, tree, and even snag-scapes, and I love capturing birds on gorgeous trees in gorgeous cloud- and land-scapes. Whether at home in Flagstaff or traveling to other parts of Arizona, southern California, or occasionally further afield (Texas, Missouri, and South Dakota most recently, I am never without my camera. My aim is to capture for viewers my encounters with the natural world that are so important and fulfilling.
