The photograph was taken in March 2022 with an M. Zuiko zoom lens (40-150mm) on an OM-D E-M1 Mark II camera, ISO 2500 1/4000s f/7.1, focal distance 150mm. On an academic note, the importance of animal play (especially play fighting), and its frequent resemblance to the real thing (baring teeth, growling, even biting) was brillliantly described by 20th century anthropologist and animal behavior expert Gregory Bateson.
I am a nature and wildlife photographer specializing in landscapes such as panoramas, trees in context, and animals in action or interaction! You could call me a "-scape" photographer, doing land-, cloud-, tree, and even snag-scapes, and I love capturing birds on gorgeous trees in gorgeous cloud- and land-scapes. Whether at home in Flagstaff or traveling to other parts of Arizona, southern California, or occasionally further afield (Texas, Missouri, and South Dakota most recently, I am never without my camera.
