In Flagstaff, as huge mounds of snow melt on warming days, juncos busy themselves with gathering nesting materials. This bird is one of a pair busy in our yard this morning (4/11/23). The apparent closeup shot resulted from mounting a 300mm prime lens and 1.4x teleconverter on an OM-1 OM Systems mirrorless camera, handheld. My settings were thus: ISO 3200 1/800s f/5.6. In Photoshop, I rendered misty (and almost invisible) most of the fence on which the junco perched, leaving enough for viewers to understand without the fence competing with the bird for their attention.
I am a nature and wildlife photographer specializing in landscapes such as panoramas, trees in context, and animals in action or interaction! You could call me a "-scape" photographer, doing land-, cloud-, tree, and even snag-scapes, and I love capturing birds on gorgeous trees in gorgeous cloud- and land-scapes.
